The Columbus Area Visitors Center is seeking an Executive Director to lead its efforts to actively market the uniqueness and advantages of the Columbus/Bartholomew County (Indiana) community, while engaging and educating visitors, overnight guests, and residents. The Visitors Center is a not-for-profit organization operating out of a beautifully restored historical home with a gift shop, media room, and community meeting room. Significant activities of the organization include architectural tours, sports tourism, event hosting and support, and operating a community gift shop. Columbus, Indiana is a vibrant and visionary community with a history of collaboration, cultural diversity, economic strength, and the pursuit of excellence.

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in partnership with the Board, staff, membership, and other community organizations, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic, marketing, financial, and administrative leadership of the Visitors Center. The Executive Director serves as a community leader and a collaborative partner with the local hotel, tourism, and economic development community.

QUALIFICATIONS include a Bachelor’s degree. Prefer 7–10+ years of tourism industry experience, including destination organizations, or other not-for-profit/business leadership experience. Experience leading a Board and managing volunteers is desired. Strong visionary and strategic skills, innovative marketing capabilities, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong understanding of consensus and relationship building are required. Residency within Bartholomew County is required.
