Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation (JYF) is seeking a highly qualified individual to develop, implement and evaluate communications and media relations campaigns designed to stimulate public awareness on a national, state and local level of the Foundation, its museums, educational programs, special events and programs, collections and facilities and directly supports the generation of paid admissions. Oversees writing, editing and review of JYF media communications, social media efforts, website content, advertising placements, publications and marketing materials for on- and off-site public use and serves as agency spokesperson for media/public relations. Must be available to work on evenings and weekends as necessary
To Qualify: Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and communications requirements and staff, including development of effective public relations strategies and execution of programs appropriately. Must have strong writing, editing and oral communication skills; thorough understanding of press relations and ability to establish rapport with media; understanding of all sides of digital communications opportunities available via electronic and social media, website content and integration into ongoing public relations program; ability to independently perform work tasks efficiently and effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Must possess organizational, managerial and coordinating skills and have ability to work effectively on marketing team and with staff at all levels. Proficient with Outlook/Word, Excel and Access software, WordPress website platform and current social media channels and ability to communicate verbally, via e-mail and digital channels. B.A. in communication or liberal arts field. Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in public/media relations and/or journalism programs, including program development and management and coordinating all aspects public/media relations for tourism attractions and major events and openings.
Special Requirements – Please Note: All full-time and part-time paid staff of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is required to complete and sign an Application for Employment.
